Concealed Carry Practice Session
Independence Firearms offers a monthly Concealed Carry Practice Session featuring 2 stages that we shoot several times to hone our shooting and gun handling skills. The session is perfect for concealed carry or home defense practice. The stages include shooting challenges, combining stationary cardboard targets with on-the-move shooting, including around walls, through ports, and doorways. There will be a mix of static, swinging disappearing, steel targets, and even targets that activate other targets when shot. You’ll have the opportunity to practice your draws, reloads, and even shoot on the move. Take your self-defense practice to the next level on a safe, controlled course with direct Range Safety Officer supervision on every stage.
These matches are open to the public, and you do not need to be a range member. While any pistol .380 caliber or larger is allowed, we recommend bringing your concealed carry setup or home defense gun. The stages are designed to have 10-18 shots needed for each one. This is not a competition, and scores are not posted. The sessions are a more relaxed environment than our USPSA matches. The sessions run from 2-4:30 on the second Sunday of each month, with check-in from 1:30-2. Want more shooting that day and a little competition? Join us for the USPSA Match right before the Concealed Carry Practice Session. If you sign up for both, the cost is just $30.

Practice Shooting Session Getting Started Guide:
What Should I Expect?
While this is not a competition, it can be fast-paced shooting, but everyone can shoot at their own pace. There are no winners, and no scores are posted. The sessions are meant to be a way for shooters to improve their skills without the pressure of competition. We usually get through both stages at least 2 times, and we suggest 50+ rounds of ammo if you want to shoot each stage 2 times. Don’t shy away because you’re new. Our shooting community is very welcoming and helpful. These sessions enable shooters to develop safe gun handling skills and accuracy in various situations.
What Do I Need?
You don’t need anything special to start shooting in these sessions. We suggest a semi-auto handgun or revolver in .380-45 auto, and bringing your EDC gun is best. We do allow PCC’s in the session. If you have a holster covering the trigger and securing the gun (no Blackhawk Serpa holsters), bring it along with 1-2 extra magazines with a mag holder and your eye and ear protection. If you do not have a holster, bring a gun bag or case for your pistol, and you can start the stages in low ready. Most of our stages are 10-18 rounds. There are 2 stages that we usually shoot twice. It’s best to bring 50+ rounds of ammo. A USPSA Match is right before our Concealed Carry Practice Session, which has a higher round count and focuses on faster shooting. That match does have the scores posted.
How Do I Join the Session?
If this is your first action shooting event, we have a New Shooter Safety Briefing at 1:45 on the session day. The briefing goes over the safety items for the session, how scoring works, and the flow. Learn what to expect when you’re the shooter and how to help your squad when you’re not the shooter. In addition, we review your gear setup and help optimize everything for you to participate in the session. The safety briefing is free, and is required to shoot during the session if you have not participated in any action shooting events. Register through our website or find the match on Pracitscore to sign up. If signing up on Practiscore, you’ll need an account.
We encourage you to come out and attend one of our matches. It’ll be a fun day, and you’ll be surprised how many skills you’ll get to work on!
